Pictures of Emam 3Ali and Hussain
(a.s.w)
Is imagination better or pictures and acting?? This is the question
Let me be critical and examine the issue of the pictures of Ahl-al bait (asw)
Firstly I'd like to ask if an important question: Who was the first person to draw Imam 3Ali (asw) or any of the Aema
The Westerners as well as other Muslims critisise the She3a for drawing ahl al bait.
When the prophet Mohammad Caricatures was first published by the Canadian journalist, ofcourse we were all outraged. But later on there were more drawings of the Prophet and the Imams, with nothing that we can actually pinpoint to say they are just mocking the prophet. They knew that by simply attempting to draw any of the holly Muslim characters we would be very upset and opposed, so they played with our emotions that way. The Muslims complained and demanded it should be stopped giving reasons such as Muslims do not draw such characters as their status is just too high and any image drawn of them is offensive no matter how good or bad it is. The Westerners argued that this is not true, showing Persian art and also that of Arabs of Ahl-al bait. They argued that why doesn’t the Muslims become outraged when their people draw them. Ofcourse, a Muslim wouldnt be outraged because we know that a Muslim artist would have a completely different intention than a non-Muslim one. But there is an important point. If a Muslim, even if he had a good intention, drew pictures of ahl al bait that are not correct or misleading, will the Muslim world be outraged? Some Muslims already expressing their disaproval in various Islamic websites, we have the Sunnies talking about the She3a in a very negative way and critising them for their drawings and then some She3as who are condeming this act and saying they too don't agree with this act .
In my opinion I think there should be copy rights for those who draw the Imam. Not anyone who wishes to draw them should have the right to do so. Some of the drawings are inaccurate, and they just don’t look the same as the good ones. Sometimes we’re confused which photo is the accurate one. Yes they all look very similar but they are not the same. If you are an artist or you do art, or just an artistic and critical person you would see that sometimes those photos are very different. There is something called هيبة Haiba” in Arabic. There are many photos that like this
.
Also the acting of the tragedy of Karbala is not that good sometimes! The actor who takes the place of the Imam just doesn’t have the “haiba هيبة ( I thing this is slang, sory i cant think of the proper word J ) the Imam that we have in our minds. This disturbs the imagination of people, especially children. Probably if it’s a movie, at least effects might be added to make it blurry which only helps in creating the imagery of the event. Remember things like the body shape, the posture, the movement... everything those things would be much more special than what is seen by actors.
If you don’t know what I mean have a look at you tube and search google.
Also why don’t we have pictures of all the Imams and why is it so wrong to draw the prophet despite all the de******************ions provided in history books but at the same time it’s ok to draw some of the Imams??? please give your opinion
I am seeing comments by religious She3a people who disagree with the whole idea of acting and drawing of ahl al bait. While others strogly support it and some like me are in the middle. What are the true She3as supposed to believe?! Ofcourse that raises a question of what is a true she3a, Lets just debate on the issue and if anyone knows what marga3ias like al sistani say about the issue please put it forward.
I hope we have many people participating in this disscussion
Thank you
