About Violence and Nonviolence!
El Sayyed Mohammed Ali El Husseini
Dedication:
To all humanity,
to the people of peace,
to the people of forgiveness and peaceful living,
to everyone who shares our way of living a nonviolent life, El Imam El Shirazi.
Introduction:
Thank God the creator of the universe and the human race, the unique Allah, who created Adam, Noah, and Abraham, Jacob, Ismail, Mousse, Jesus and all the prophets (peace be upon them) and peace be upon theirs family, from our imam Ali, until our last guardian Imam El Mahdi.
And:
What’s going on in the world today, especially what we witnessed on September 11 in New York, what happened in Spain and also in Iraq, prescribes to stand against.
And the reason goes to all the terrorist acts, from killing innocents, cutting heads, kid napping and torturing people.
Unfortunately, all of those acts are done under the fake name of Islam, and of course Islam is not only innocent from it all, but it also stands against those people, and object all of their actions.
- Islam is a merciful and peaceful religion.
- Islam has brought love and justice.
- Islam has stood against terrorism and terrorists.
Islam says to everyone who have worked and spoken by its name:
You have to stand against, and object every act related to terrorism, violence and oppression, which is going in the world without a justified reason, and so it says to all the leaders of Islam, to confront all those isolated, unbelievers, and from another side to work harder to explain the true meaning of Islam, and its real point of view against terrorism, killing and all kind of decay.
And it’s a responsibility on the whole nation.
We have to work together, to show the real values of Islam, which are, peace, love, and loyalty, trust and justice. Depending on the rule: there are two kinds of people, ones related to you by religion, and others by humanity.
Depending on what we’ve already mentioned, (the international association of Islamic civilization) have done a lot of effort (we thank it for it), to send some questions that goes around these subjects (violence, nonviolence, terrorism…etc….)
To almost all our savants, and after they announced those questions, the association has translated, printed and published them. So the real face of Islam will be revealed!
Because they trust us, they have sent us some of the questions, to ask us our point of view, about violence and nonviolence.
First, we work from the verse taking from the holy Qura’an: “l ma2eda 2”; and from the other side to clarify the statement that Islam was put in, we had to answer those questions.
So, we gathered all the answers in one book, titled by: (Questions and Answers about Violence and Nonviolence).
So, we pray that we did our best to clarify the position of Islam against terrorism.
Al last, we thank everyone who have helped realizing this project. We also pray to El Said El Shirazi to rest in peace, and we pray to his brother who’s still working to spread the statement of nonviolence El Said Sadek.
Thank god almighty

Dear brothers at “The international association of Islamic civilization)
Peace be upon you!
And:
After we received your variety of questions on violence and terrorism.
We saw that its more suitable not to answer briefly, because the subject is so important, and you want sufficient answers, and also we have to clarify every case, and it will certainly turn with benefit.
So, in his name we begin!
Q1: what do you say about those concepts: violence, nonviolence, and terrorism?
A1: in his name
The question was always about concepts, so we have to answer on this in many ways, because concepts have different explanation and its related to the person who explains. But, in concern to those concepts, we think that there’s a unique meaning.
Violence, is cruel, aggressive, no civilized act. Where an aggressive energy is clearly announced, like killing and beating people, destroying properties, and using power to control people.
And there’s a second meaning to violence:
Violence is an appeared feature, or a cruel act, and its using power illegally.
But our explanation of violence:
That violence is every act or says that contains readiness to power or threaten of using it, to harm or damage people, ruining properties to achieve certain goals or us.
There’s three shapes or violence:
-Personal violence: where it’s coming from an individual.
-Group violence: where it comes from a group of people.
-Family violence, political violence, financial, cultural and social violence.
That’s what we mean by violence, many explanations but there’s one meaning, violence is being harsh.
Concerning nonviolence: it’s the opposite of violence, if violence means being harmful and tough, nonviolence, it’s leniency and prosperity in every utterance or acts, away from any violence.
And it’s with no negotiation a prophet’s feature, and every one who’s described by real humanity.
That’s what we understand from Nonviolence, but our imam el Shirazi says the best meaning: non-violence is to handle things either it was destruction or built with all calmness, so no one would be harmed.
The second explanation: “nonviolence it’s a policy, where the people stands against occupation with a non cooperative stand, with a negative way, and they won’t use violence”.
The last: a political act, far away from any violence act.”
Terrorism: it’s a treating, and troubling act, its meant to frighten the people, and create disturbance, and mess in goal to achieve something.”
In other words, terrorism is a political violence from minority; it takes many faces like planting bombs, assassinate, and that to change a political system, or resist a governmental politics, a terrorist is who uses terrorism or participate in it.”
Our explanation of terrorism: it’s a mutable concept, a progressive and various according to place and time, but we can describe it as a form of violence, done to accomplish a certain goal it differs from a terrorist side to another, and goals might change with circumstances.
Terrorism is described to be an attempt to spread panic, and fear for certain goals, and in known and mysterious ways.
Faces of terrorism: governmental, group and individual, ideological, social, sexual, etc…
These are the answers for the first Question.
Q2: is there a positive and negative meaning for violence, and so for nonviolence?
A2: well, from our point of view, its related to the purpose, violence has two faces, once its used for a reasonable cause, and some situations that needs it, like when a dentist needs to take a molar out, he needs strength, and that some how called violence, and its used for a positive reason.
But like the case of “Sadam Hussein”, the unjust governor of Iraq, it’s like an aching tooth, which needs to be taken off.
Then, and in this unique case, (violence) is what helped us get rid of a worse violence, and to make us live a more secure life.
Here and here only, we can say that violence is supported and the best way to deal with a more cruel violence, and to live with more freedom, democracy and justice, it’s the positive side of violence.
In other times violence is used in a not allowed way, which is killing, slaying and all kind of decay, and that to reach malicious and devilish goals.
In brief, violence is like a knife, once used for good and positive reason, and other times used for harming, negative reasons.
Concerning nonviolence, its one hundred per cent positive, because it’s the way prophets and good people work by.
And its shown by treatment, and dealing with mercy and easiness, even if the other person we are dealing with was violence.
And the peaceful way is always to the best way to get what we want.
History assures that from what Martin Luther King has been affected by, which was the prayers of “Mahatma Gandhi” who talked about nonviolence, and used it through his political battles.
And he says: “my view about nonviolence, isn’t coming from one religion, but I earned it from my study for all the religions in the world.
In short, nonviolence is never seen from a negative prospective, but it’s always positive.
Q3: what’s the relation between violence and law? Does law support violence?
A3: We say if we really understood the Islamic religion it describes God’s religion, and the prayers of all the prophets, and the concept of violence and the Islamic law is contradict ional.
Therefore, Islam comes from peace and mercy, and violence is under the title of cruelty, than what relation can bring them together?
Islam prays for peace between the people, and it refuses every kind of violence and cruelty.
And a Muslims opinion about violence is clear, and the holy Qur’an has mentioned this subject in its verses.
Islam stands against violence by saying: Islam is non violence, no love for killing, but it’s justice, and the love for the good, and spreading peace and security, and that appears in the holy Quran: Cow 83:”to be good to parents, and the near kinsman, and to orphans and to the needy, and speak good to men”
So, Islam refuses violence and pray to people to act differently.
And imam el shirazi also said: “Islam prays for peace, and consider it the best and to prevent war.”
In short, Islam doesn’t have any relation with violence but it prayed for nonviolence, and also the holy quran cleared it by saying: “call thou to the way of thy lord with wisdom surely and good admonition and dispute with them in the better way, surely thy lord knows very well those who have gone astray from his way, and he knows very well those who are guided.” The bee 125
Q4: how can we understand the Islamic speech, and to what lead us, violence or nonviolence?
A4: speech in Islam has two meanings; the first one is the one coming from the savants if Islam, and sometimes those have just faked the figure and the name of Islam.
By the other side, we have savants who have the right speech that presents Islam, like el imam el shirazi, who always prayed for nonviolence,
In history, Islam prayed for non-violence, and our prophet Mohammad was so peaceful, and also the quran says: “O believers enter the peace, all of you, and follow not the steps of Satan, he is a manifest foe to you.” The cow 208
From this point it’s clear that Islam takes a stand against violence, and our savants who pray for that also clear this point of view by their speeches.
The other side of the Islamic speech is the one based on the verses of quran, and our prophet’s talk.
We come to the first origin, which is the holy quran, who prays to prevent violence, and prays for peace through these verses: “and if they incline to peace, do thou incline to it; and put my trust in god, he is the all-hearing, the all-knowing.” The spoils of war 61
Verses of forgiveness: “ it was by some mercy of god that thou wast gentle to them, hadst thou been harsh and hard of heart, they would have scattered from about them.
So pardon them, and pray forgiveness for them, and take counsel with them in the affair.” The house of imran 159.
