I don't really what kind of answers you are looking for. I mean it’s quite different whether you are looking for short answers or extended ones. Inshallah I’ll answer as well as I possibly can.

Personally, I think that monitoring employees’ emails and internet usage isn’t only ethical but kind of essential.

From an employee’s point of view, it may seem unfair to invade their privacy and undermine their proficiency.

However, from my biref work experience in big organizations, I believe that monitoring employees is very important. Unfortunately, many employees tend to waste their boss’s time by using their computers for entertainment purposes during office hours. I also noticed that many employees spend plenty of time in chatting rooms, and others are completely obsessed with stock markets and spend most of their time checking their shifty prices.

Emails are also widely abused amongst employees. Personally, I receive no less than 10 unrelated-to-work emails everyday. And, I’m not referring to yahoo or hotmail. I’m actually talking about the company’s official e-mail.

Employers have a legitimate right in keeping track of how their employees spend their work hours. After all, no one wants workers surfing X-rated websites, or circulating offensive emails. And employers may want to take steps to make sure employees are not giving trade secrets to competitors, engaging in illegal conduct at work, or using company communications equipment to harass their co-workers.
Nevertheless, the monitoring practice should be reasonable. Employees will not perform well if they are in constant fear of being spied on. Overreaching monitoring or unnecessarily draconian policies about personal use of communications equipment may result in employee resentment and attrition.

I hope that answers your question!

    Kind regards
