Saud Abdulaziz bin Nasser al Saud and his ‘very effeminate’ aide, Bandar Abdullah Abdulaziz, did not behave in a way that heterosexual men would, according to the worker.
Dimitrov Dobromir described their behaviour after he was asked to take a clothes rail and hangers to the bedroom the men shared at the Landmark Hotel in central London on January 20.
He told the court: ‘Just the way they were dealing with their clothes and speaking to each other and organising by colour and shape. I got the impression they were somehow not friends but in a relationship.
‘Two heterosexual men would not give such importance to their pants in this way. I would describe them as a gay couple.’
The pair are alleged to have been an abusive relationship, which ended with Al Saud killing Mr Abdulaziz on February 15.
However, al Saud’s barrister, John Kelsey-Fry QC, said: ‘It is not accepted this was in fact a gay relationship. But I certainly accept you had the impression they were a gay couple. You had an effeminate gay man sharing with another man and colour coding their clothes, that’s why you got the impression they were a gay couple.’ Mr Dobromir agreed.
Mr Abdulaziz’s death came after a series of ‘really nasty assaults’ on him in the weeks leading up to his demise, it was claimed.
