In the name of Allah, The Merciful, The All-merciful
God is the Light of the heavens and the earth; the likeness of His Light is as a niche with a lamp in it; the lamp is in a glass; the glass is as it were a glittering star kindled from a blessed tree of olive, which is neither of the East nor of the West, whose oil would shine even if no fire touched it; Light upon Light; God guides to His Light whom He will; And God describes similitudes for mankind; and God knows everything;

Where did the idea for Vaseline Petroleum Jelly come from?
Robert Augustus Cheesebrough.
In 1859 when oil was first found in Pennsylvania, Cheesebrough was a chemist in Brooklyn
he spent months creating a clean form of rod-wax which he called "petroleum jelly"
After awhile, he added the popular medical term "line" to the word "vase" and he called the product "Vaseline Petroleum Jelly."
!That was interesting to know Banafsaj. Thank you. Here is some more details
Petroleum jelly is a byproduct of the refining of petroleum, made from the residue of petroleum distillation left in the still after all the oil has been vaporized
Vaseline is a registered trade name for a famous brand of petroleum jelly
Petroleum jelly was discovered by Robert Chesebrough in 1859 in Brooklyn, New York. Chesebrough was intrigued by the paraffin-like substance that stuck to the drilling rigs. All the riggers hated the stuff because it caused the rigs to seize up, but they did use it on cuts and burns because it helped them heal faster. Chesebrough bottled the petroleum jelly and took it back to his office where he tested it on himself
He gave out free samples across New York and within six months he had twelve wagons distributing the product, under the trade name Vaseline, across the state
In 1872, Chesebrough patented (U.S. No. 127,568) the process of making petroleum jelly. The patent says its uses include currying, stuffing, and oiling all kinds of leather. The finest grade of petroleum is also adapted for use as a pomade for the hair. It is also an excellent treatment for chapped hands
I swear by Apollo the physician, and Aesculapius, and Health, and All-heal, and all the gods and goddesses, that, according to my ability and judgment, I will keep this Oath and this stipulation- to reckon him * who taught me this Art equally dear to me as my parents, to share my substance with him, and relieve his necessities if required; to look upon his offspring in the same footing as my own brothers, and to teach them this art, if they shall wish to learn it, without fee or stipulation; and that by precept, lecture, and every other mode of instruction, I will impart a knowledge of the Art to my own sons, and those of my teachers, and to disciples bound by a stipulation and oath according to the law of medicine, but to none others. I will follow that system of regimen which, according to my ability and judgment, I consider for the benefit of my patients, and abstain from whatever is deleterious and mischievous. I will give no deadly medicine to any one if asked, nor suggest any such counsel; and in like manner I will not give to a woman a pessary to produce abortion. With purity and with holiness I will pass my life and practice my Art. I will not cut persons laboring under the stone, but will leave this to be done by men who are practitioners of this work. Into whatever houses I enter, I will go into them for the benefit of the sick, and will abstain from every voluntary act of mischief and corruption; and, further from the seduction of females or males, of freemen and slaves. Whatever, in connection with my professional practice or not, in connection with it, I see or hear, in the life of men, which ought not to be spoken of abroad, I will not divulge, as reckoning that all such should be kept secret. While I continue to keep this Oath unviolated, may it be granted to me to enjoy life and the practice of the art, respected by all men, in all times! But should I trespass and violate this Oath, may the reverse be my lot
